Jesus, Where Are You in the Pain?
Never hesitate to ask Christ the hard questions, the ones that start as sobs deep in your gut. You will be awed to discover that His loving response is so much stronger than the painful cry you use to call out to Him.
Don’t be afraid of the silence that follows your cries. It is in the silence that you will hear His response.
Jesus, Do You See My Shame?
Around and through each incidence of abuse runs a common thread of shame and fear and dread. Jesus “unstitches” that thread. And replaces it with His exquisitely tender love.
Don’t hesitate to cry out to Jesus when you hurt.
“Jesus, Where Are You in the Pain?
“Jesus, Do You See My Shame?”
And as you prepare to pray, may this poem remind you that Jesus is right there with you. His love is in direct opposition to the abuse you’ve suffered and infinitely more powerful.
the Strain, the Stress, the Seam
dark corridors end in blinding
light
matadors tease the captive to
fight
wince
noose rings tighter round
sound is drowned
the strain
the stress
the seam
whiskey smoke and girly
mags
money laughter filthy
rags
sink
no noise crying
body buying
the doll
the slut
the seam
wooded man in daylight
dawned
wicked plan in blossom
fawned
think
cuffed boxed outfoxed
unwind all clocks
the blame
the shame
the seam
photo clicks ponytail
swings
dizzy dame to believe such
things
lies
thighs and sighs
diverted eyes
the trap
the snare
the seam
bathroom
trip
fountain
sip
shy
teach and coax
follow the hoax
the babe
the lame
the seam
wince
sink
think
lies
shy
seam
seam
seam
seam
scream!
U
N
Z
I
P
trip
slip
dip
see me in between
you, too?
me, too.
me, three.
and more!
find me neath the seam
“come and hold?”
Held.
“what Arms?’
this Shield.
speechless in my scream
Woman, know Me as I’m known
See Me as I’m seen
Search Me
Hear Me
Do Not Run
My Love shall seamless be
As It has been, It still remains
And in your future see
My Love,
My Love,
shall always
shall always
shall always
seamless be
